Can you believe that the holidays are here? Thanksgiving is around the corner and Christmas is next month! The holidays are a time for connecting with family and friends, usually around the dinner table eating delicious foods and lots of laughter.

With COVID-19 still going on, many are wondering what the holidays will be like. Can or should we travel, should we spend time together, how do we do it with the concerns of COVID-19? There are certainly challenges this year and it can cause stress.

In case you are not able to physically be together, here are a few ways to connect with loved ones beyond the dinner table:

1. Grab the family and find a local organization to serve.

Most organizations have figured out how to maintain social distance and can provide personal protective equipment for their volunteers besides, it just feels good to give to others.

2. Get some fresh air.

Find a park or trail to walk, this allows the family to be together physically but not be in closed spaces and it’s outdoors so that fun time and laughter is totally cool.

3. Take it virtual.

There are so many free platforms where family and friends can gather to “see” each other. You can use Zoom, Google Hangouts, Facetime, or even Facebook Rooms.

These platforms are available and are free and are a great way to have “face to face” family time so lots of laughter is definitely allowed!

Connecting with loved ones is different in 2020, but this gives us a chance to be creative and not lose touch with each other! We need to stay connected to reduce stress, check on each other, and help maintain our overall wellbeing. So grab the young person in your life and task them with getting the family connected this year beyond the dinner table!

Best of Health,
