The new year is a great time to start thinking about your physical fitness. Whether your goal is weight loss, building muscle, toning up, or simply looking and feeling better, it’s important to have a complete fitness regimen. In order to do this, you should incorporate cardio training, weight training, and high-intensity interval training for overall fitness.
- Cardio training can:
- lower blood pressure and improve cardiovascular health
- help regulate blood sugar
- improve sleep, and even reduce chronic pain
*Tip – Try walking, jogging, biking, or elliptical machines for a great cardio workout.
- Weight training doesn’t have to equal bulking up. It is beneficial and will:
- keep your bones healthy and strong
- boost metabolism and fat loss
- regulate your body’s insulin and lowers inflammation
- improve strength and endurance
*Tip – Both men AND women of all ages should incorporate weight training.
- High-Intensity Interval Training or HIIT involves short bursts of intense exercise with low-intensity recovery periods. This type of training:
- burns a lot of calories in a short period
- increases your metabolism for hours afterward
- burns fat and build muscle
- can reduce heart rate and blood pressure
*Tip – Those short bursts can really make a difference and can actually be fun.
In conclusion, these three types of training work together to produce your best overall fitness. By incorporating all three types you can create a well-rounded workout regimen. I hope you enjoyed this week’s post! Make sure to give me a follow on Instagram and Facebook!
